Tourists Can Claim VAT Refunds Through Self-Service Kiosks : kiosks have been launched at airports and ports across the UAE included in the Tax Refunds for Tourists Scheme.

The Value Added Tax (VAT) Recovery Self-Service Kiosks for Tourists has been expanded to be available at major shopping malls , hotels, similarly to the existing ones at air, land, and maritime access and go out ports throughout the UAE, introduced the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

The kiosks can be found at 12 locations, such as Dubai International Airport, Al Maktoum International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah airports, and ports across UAE.

Claim VAT Refunds Through Self-Service Kiosks : Tourists can claim back 85% of their VAT on goods purchased during their stay in the UAE.

Tourists will submit their requests to recover the taxes they incurred on purchases within UAE once they depart from the country. Aplicants should submit the tax invoices on their purchases, marked with ‘Tax-Free’ stickers issued by stores registered within the system, along with their passport and Credit /Debit card. No limit is placed on the maximum amount that can be recovered if said amount is transferred to the tourist’s credit card, however, in the event that the applicant requests a cash refund, then the maximum amount is set at AED7,000 per day. This method will be dispensed at self-service kiosks, yet as at tax refund offices placed at ports of exit across the UAE.
